Day 1

Welcome to Edinburgh!

Edinburgh knows how to make an entrance. Its castle crowns an ancient volcano, medieval closes twist between centuries-old buildings, and history seems to wait around every corner. After settling into our hotel, Christoph will lead an easy orientation walk through hidden alleys, neighborhood pubs, and favorite local corners, offering a first taste of the city we'll call home for the next two nights. This evening we'll gather around the table for our welcome dinner, raising a glass to the journey ahead. After all, every great adventure deserves a proper beginning—and perhaps your first wee dram.

Day 2

Day 2 image

Edinburgh's storied streets

Edinburgh is a city best explored with someone who knows where its stories are hiding. Joined by a local historian, we'll wander the Royal Mile, medieval closes, and Old Town while discovering the people and events that shaped Scotland's capital. A private visit to Edinburgh Castle brings nearly a thousand years of royal intrigue, conflict, and resilience to life atop its volcanic perch. The afternoon is yours. Browse a favorite bookshop, climb Arthur's Seat, enjoy a leisurely lunch, or settle into a cozy pub. Edinburgh has a wonderful habit of rewarding those who simply wander.

Day 3

Day 3 image

Speyside Spirit(s)

Leaving Edinburgh behind, Scotland begins to stretch its legs. Rolling farmland gives way to forests, broad glens, and Highland scenery that somehow manages to exceed every postcard. We'll visit Blair Castle, home to the Dukes of Atholl for more than seven centuries, where elegant rooms and family stories reveal Scotland's noble past. Crossing the breathtaking Cairngorms National Park, we arrive in Speyside, where whisky isn't simply produced—it's part of everyday life. Tonight we'll settle into this welcoming region over dinner, where Highland hospitality is every bit as memorable as the scenery outside.

Day 4

Day 4 image

The Soul of Scotch Whisky

Today's story is one of craftsmanship. We'll begin at Scotland's oldest working woolen mill before visiting Speyside Cooperage, where master coopers shape oak casks entirely by hand using techniques passed down through generations. Then it's on to GlenAllachie where we'll sample whisky straight from the cask during an exclusive warehouse tasting before visiting family-owned Glenfarclas, where six generations of independence have created one of Speyside's most respected distilleries. Even if you don't consider yourself a whisky enthusiast, you'll leave appreciating the people, patience, and pride behind every bottle.

Day 5

Day 5 image

Highlands and Standing Stones

Before Scotland had castles, it had standing stones. Our morning begins at Clava Cairns, a remarkable Bronze Age site that's nearly 4,000 years old and still wrapped in mystery. Then history jumps ahead to Culloden Battlefield, where an expert guide helps us understand the battle that forever changed Highland life, language, and culture. After lunch along the shores of Loch Ness, we'll continue to Fort Augustus, where boats glide through the Caledonian Canal and conversations inevitably drift toward Scotland's most famous—and elusive—resident beneath the loch's dark waters.

Day 6

Day 6 image

Loch Ness to Oban

Few places capture the imagination quite like Loch Ness. This morning we'll board a private cruise across its deep, mysterious waters before exploring the dramatic ruins of Urquhart Castle, perched high above the shoreline. From there we head west through spectacular Highland scenery to Glenfinnan, where Bonnie Prince Charlie launched the Jacobite Rising and where movie lovers may recognize another famous landmark nearby. By evening we arrive in Oban, Scotland's lively harbor town known for fresh seafood, island ferries, and sunsets that seem to linger just a little longer over the bay.

Day 7

Day 7 image

Kilmartin Glen

Some places make you rethink history altogether. Kilmartin Glen is one of them. Walking alongside an expert historian, we'll explore one of Europe's richest prehistoric landscapes, where standing stones, burial cairns, carved rocks, and ceremonial sites reveal a civilization that flourished thousands of years before Rome. Rather than simply admiring ancient monuments, we'll discover what archaeologists have learned—and what remains a mystery. This afternoon is yours to enjoy Oban before we gather for a memorable 3-course seafood dinner overlooking the coast, celebrating another remarkable day of discovery.

Day 8

Day 8 image

Scotlands Thread that Binds

As we make our way back to Edinburgh, we'll celebrate two traditions that have helped define Scotland for centuries. First comes a hands-on weaving workshop, where local artisans introduce us to the colorful world of tartan—and you'll create your own keepsake to take home. Then we'll visit Stirling Castle, one of Scotland's grandest royal fortresses, where stories of Mary Queen of Scots, William Wallace, and generations of Scottish rulers unfold within its stone walls. This evening we'll enjoy one final dinner together, sharing favorite moments before saying farewell to an unforgettable journey.

Day 9

Day 9 image

Haste Ye Back

After breakfast, it's time to head home. Your suitcase may hold a bottle of whisky, a woven keepsake, or a few extra souvenirs, but we're guessing what you'll remember most are the stories: the hidden closes of Edinburgh, the quiet mystery of ancient standing stones, the warmth of Highland hospitality, and perhaps the sound of laughter around the dinner table. Scotland has a wonderful way of staying with you long after you've left its shores. As the Scots like to say, haste ye back—their heartfelt invitation to come back again.
