Completely unpacking in a corner of Europe that allows to time-travel into the middle ages and into one of Europes last peasant cultures was such a pleasure. This journey for me was to finally see the country my father and grandparents immigrated from in the early 1900s and it did all that and more. The beauty and history brought to life by Sandu and Christoph and the wonderful group of fellow travelers made this 2 week adventure pure pleasure. Romania gives one a view of life still lived as it was many years ago but it is becoming more popular as a tourist destination so go now!

We are so happy to not only explore this fascinating corner of Europe with you, but to know you connected with some part of your own past within this fascinating country was amazing to us! From buzzing Bucharest, to history laden Sighisoara and it's surroundings with Biertan's fortified church, to the village of Breb and its weaver woman, town chronicler, and local guide Florin, to the painted monasteries of Bukovina dating to the 1500s, the many wooden churches, to Brasov and the Bear sanctuary and so much more we saw in between, we are happy to have unpacked Romania for you. Dressler Detours can do all that, but the energy and kindness of our travelers, like you, are who make our trips so special. Thank you, Laury. We can't wait to travel with you again!

This was a fantastic trip! Slovenia is a beautiful, magical country! Small but MIGHTY! The food, the people, the history, the stunning natural beauty, the culture, the Adriatic sea were a wonderful surprise for me. I loved the hotels where we stayed…like stepping back in time. The food was fabulously fancy and delicious, much of it grown and sourced locally … pumpkin seed oil and honey … I would absolutely go back especially if it’s off-season or end/beginning of tourist season. The tourists and mosquitos were neck and neck for most annoying. Would love to go back in the fall…

Our Portuguese guide was wonderful, and the local guides were excellent, giving local insight that can be hard to find. Great food and wine throughout this stimulating and energetic "detour" of Portugal and the Azores. I highly recommend this fun cultural experience.

This tour to Normandy will be held dearly in my heart as one of the most remarkable experience I have ever had. At 75 years old I have had many remarkable experiences in my life but this tour, this extraordinary group of fellow travelers, and I emphasize extraordinary, is one that I will never forget.
I learned so much, I witnessed so much that you will not read about in revisionist history books. Again, I go back to my fellow travelers and their free flowing discussions (thank you Randy!) made every moment we were together very rich.
Hats of to Dressler DETOURS for all the planning, logistics, attention to detail, and very importantly, Christoph and Taunya make you feel cared for. They keep participants under 20 and this is part of the magic of a Dressler tour.
